H.B.M.S. is a one-piece flatpack furniture design: a metal sheet of industrial format; 2,5 x 1,25 meter; a drawing cut using the Laser Cutting technic.

All the parts are connected to one and the same sheet or matrix; the individual parts of the matrix are then folded and nested one inside the other by hand; once folded the matrix becomes a shelf.

The challenge of this project lies in its very nature, using a 1.5 mm thick stainless-steel sheet and one of its industrialization transformation methods. The question it addresses is: how can we optimize its use?

The H.B.M.S. aims to strike a balance between a sculptural appearance and the strength of its industrial identity, with the intention of making the design drawing visible in the product.
